Fashions on the Field: Burnie Cup

Today the Burnie Showgrounds were filled with florals, bold pinks and show-stopping fascinators.

The theme among the girls at the Burnie Cup today was bright colours and big fascinators. Myself, of course, went in another direction.

I went for a simple and elegant dress from my favourite local store in town with a plain black fascinator to match. My Kardashian Kollection shoes were the main focus of my cup outfit (why wouldn’t they be? They’re fabulous).

The popular choices at the Fashions on the Fields were floral-patterned dresses with cute clutches and huge fascinators. Silk and lace gloves were also a very popular accessory to have at the Burnie Cup.

The young girls stole the focus off of us big girls as they rocked the stage in their summer dresses and hats.

As the ages went up, so did the size of the fascinators.

The third photo above is of my two favourite outfits of the day. The beautiful lady in the red won me over when her clutch caught my eye. Bought in Germany, the horse-shaped bag was well suited for the day’s events. The stunning red dress was a stand out on the field and so was her matching fascinator to top it off. The summer-dressed lady next to her had the biggest fascinator of the day. This is probably why she was my favourite. As if the beautiful coloured skirt and the gloves weren’t enough, her brightly coloured and unique hat was definitely one to catch a few eyes. Interestingly enough, this show-stopping fascinator was created all in one night. Last night. Out of an old singlet and some flowers. The creativity of some people simply amazes me.

Overall, the day was a success. Although, don’t ask me how the racing went because I wouldn’t have a clue. I got distracted with a new kind of racing on the television.. I didn’t know that dog racing was a sport, and I couldn’t stop laughing for a solid 10 minutes. But the fashions were fabulous and everyone seemed to have a great day in the sun.

Next year’s cup will be just as extravagant, I have no doubt.
