My Yellow Polka Dot Odyssey

And so we enter 2018 – the year of The Dog, my seventh year of blogging and the last of my teenage years. It’s going to be a wild one.

It’s the third day into the new year, and my goal for 2018 is to set more goals. I’ve made four so far – already three up from last year! Go me! One of my four goals was to write more, both for Sincerely, E and for myself. Something I used to do a lot of that I’ve lacked in recently is writing about fashion – one of my life-long passions and something I adore sharing with all of you.

I am lucky to have such a wonderful boyfriend for so many reasons, but fortunately for me, I love dressing up – and he’s fabulous with a camera in hand. After gathering my favourite summer kits for our very first photo shoot, we hit the scenic backdrop that is our backyard and spent the day posing, snapping pics and exploring the outdoor realms of our quirky little home.

To introduce Sincerely, E into the new year, I chose my best outfits that have the power to make you feel like a vibrant goddess who can rock absolutely anything in 2018.

Crop and pants: Runaway the Label
Shoes: Verali
Sunglasses: Quay Australia

Most people are too afraid of wearing bold colours – red, yellow, green – but that’s what makes it so fun. This stunning crop and pants set from Runaway the Label is comfortable, perfect for warm weather and is easy to style up or down. You can mix and match by wearing the pants alone with a plain black crop, or vise verser, rocking the crop with fitted black pants and basic heels. It’s a flawless kit for a festival, wearing out on the town or a fun day out with friends – if you love going that extra fashion mile, you will fall in love with this.

Top: Runaway the Label
Pants: Luvalot
Hat: SurfStitch
Shoes: Windsor Smith

One of my all-time favourite outfits – it’s the perfect combination between casual and extra. The flared sleeves of the crop top begged me to buy the shirt, and I just couldn’t resist – it had me written all over it. The high-waisted, flowing polka-dot pants are the perfect fit for this top, acting as the statement piece of the outfit without being overwhelmingly over-the-top. Not only are they great for this casual look, they’re perfect for work wear, styled with a plain top or black long-sleeve shirt. The entire outfit – not too easy and not too much, is my go-to kit for literally any event, no matter the dress code.

Jacket: Lioness
Bodysuit: Rosebullet
Jeans: Reverse
Shoes: Windsor Smith
Sunglasses: Quay Australia

There is no such thing as being over dressed, right? That’s what I tell myself, anyway. I wore this full outfit, minus the platform boots, to the Falls Festival this New Year’s Eve and I LOVED it. The jeans that are so ripped they may as well be shorts, the mesh, long-sleeve bodysuit, and to top it off, my favourite piece of the whole year – the pink fur jacket. With it’s buckles on the sleeves and collar, soft fur lining the inside and the all-over baby pink, it’s bound to be a signature statement. Combined with space buns, groovy sunglasses and killer shoes, you’ve conquered the ultimate festival kit for 2017/18.

Playsuit: Luvalot
Choker: Sportsgirl
Shoes: Verali
Sunglasses: Quay Australia

A mix of the two hottest trends coming into 2018 – yellow and polka dots. This super comfortable strapless playsuit is great for styling with accessories. The black lace choker is a perfect match for this outfit, with the plain black heels and tied-back hair to compliment the set. A great going-out kit (I tested it out on the town myself and it’s approved), perfect for events over summer or dress it down with flats and a hat for a groovy beach day look. Who would have guessed that mustard-toned clothes with spots would be the biggest hit for the new year!

Three days into 2018 and I can cross off one of my four goals for the month so far. And it feels so good! I’m not a believer in New Years Resolutions, but if I was, and if setting and achieving more goals was my resolution, I’d be pretty darn proud of myself.

A big thank you to Riley for snapping great photos of my favourite outfits – looks like Sincerely, E has a new regular photographer… You can take a look at his other work by visiting his Instagram page HERE.

Happy New Year to all of you – I hope it’s your year for wonderful things to come.
