“I’d Like a Cheeseburger, Large Fries and a Cosmopolitan”

Long time no typing, little blog of mine. What’s new with you? Nice new layout you’ve got there, and is that a new logo I see, too? You’ve been busy while I’ve been gone, haven’t you! What’s new with me? It’s about time you asked..

Where to begin… first of all – where the f**k is the year going? It’s the middle of JULY already! Remember when you were young and grown ups would say, “Make the most of your days because time goes faster when you get to my age..”. I was like… okay but time is the same for everyone, so.. that makes no sense – but whatever. I’m yet to be one of those grown up people but, wow, they definitely did not lie. Time just flies by and next thing you know, you’re almost 20 years old and still watching reruns of Friends for the 18th time.

The last few months have been super exciting for me – firstly, not a big deal, but I would like to include it. I got a hair cut – I made the impulse decision that every girl has once in a while to chop off all my curly locks and go back to my natural roots. I’m digging it so far.

The above is also a clear representation of me with and without fake tan and makeup. Girls.. am I right?

However, there are some more exciting changes happening in my life at the moment. For a large majority of my blogging years, I have had the same job. Ever since my fifteenth birthday, in fact. I started at Glow Cosmetics as a casual employee, just working Saturdays and making what I thought at the time to be an absolute killing ($100 in my bank account looked fantastic at fifteen years old.. gone are the days). I dropped out of school to work full-time as a makeup artist before becoming the company’s first Marketing Manager – social media and graphic design being the focuses of my role. A few months ago, I made the decision to leave my job with Glow to pursue a goal I had been dreaming of since the very first day I created Sincerely, E. It was the hardest decision I’ve had to make, and I tossed up my options and went backwards and forwards for a long time before finally accepting my choice. I think I always knew what I was going to do, it was just building up the courage to go through with it. Change is so scary.

If you have read my blog for a while, or even from the very beginning, you would know that my goal in life has always been exactly the same – to become a writer, a journalist, a guru in the fashion industry – I just wanted to write, which is really why I created Sincerely, E in the first place. I am now working for Fairfax Media at The Advocate newspaper. I wrote a blog article a few years back when I was doing my work placement at The Advocate during school, and look where I ended up.. crazy how things work out, isn’t it? I’ve never been so happy in my life.

I’m absolutely over the moon to be where I am at the moment – I think I’ve worked pretty damn hard over the years to get to this point. As well as working my new full-time job, I’m also studying a Business and Marketing Degree at university, attending my classes after work during the week, running my own little makeup studio gig on the side most weekends, AND managing En Vogue Modelling Academy for my darling mumma, while she pursues her careers in youth work and as a Radio Host. Meanwhile, still finding the time to squeeze in a few issues of Vogue, a chapter of my favourite book and an episode of Sex and the City (Cosmopolitan anyone? Where can I find my very own Samantha?).

And as if that’s not enough, I haven’t even mentioned the most exciting thing that’s happened. His name is Tyga and I’m 110% obsessed with him.

This darling little boy came home with us from the RSPCA at just eight weeks old. He is the most affectionate, loving kitty and he’s definitely come to the right home with Riley and I. We give him endless amounts of snuggles and kitty kisses – he’s just the best.

I could go on and on about little Tygs, but I’m going to save it for a whole other blog post (sorry for non-cat people), but I think it’s so important to think about adopting your next pet, whether it’s a dog, cat, rabbit, you name it, from the RSPCA. There are so many gorgeous animals that are just waiting for a brand new loving home. But I’ll save that for another time!

So there is a very brief catch-up on what’s been happening with me and why I’ve been MIA from Sincerely, E. Starting a new job, studying and literally everything else that’s going on is crazy! But I’m slowly getting into the flow of this new life and getting myself organised (I LOVE ORGANISATION!). It’s so satisfying. Much like kicking back in my towel hair turban with a hot milo, pink bed socks and dreaming of writing this post in Carrie Bradshaw’s New York City apartment.

Thank you for stopping by, I’m always so grateful.
